Hammer Raw Pearl Blue/Silver/White
Hammer created the Raw series of bowling balls to enhance an experienced bowler's arsenal and to offer beginners a performance option for their first bowling ball. The Hammer Raw Pearl Blue/Silver/White features the Raw Hammer core which is covered with the Juiced Pearl coverstock then finished with a 500 then 1000 then 2000 grit Siaair sanding pad and finally polished with Crown Factory Polish. Good beginner/league ball
When I first started, I had trouble hooking this ball. I went to balls with much more action. As I got better, I came back to this one and use it regularly for league play.

Customer Questions & Answers | Reviews
Question:
What's a good ball for a person that throws a back up ball
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
Really any bowling ball could work for a backup bowler. The key is to make sure you have your driller drill the ball for your backup bowling style. This ball would work well in medium to light oil and it has a skid flip reaction.

Question:
How do I know how much weight I want for the ball to hook? And what is drilling protection? I'm a newbie to bowling.
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
When determining the weight of the ball you would want to go with the heaviest weight that you can use comfortably. You may have to test a few house bowling balls first to see what weight feels comfortable and judge it from the way the ball feels and not just the finger hole size. The drilling protection option is an option to help protect the ball when you have your local proshop drill the ball. If the ball chips or cracks due to manufacturer defect during the first drilling, the drilling protection will replace the ball for you and also reimburse your drilling cost so that you do not have to lose out on your drilling fees.

Question:
I have an Arsenal full of pretty strong balls, I’m now thinking I need at least a weak ball or two. Here’s my Arsenal: Obsession tour, Jackal ghost, Ufo alert, and a hy-road max
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This would be a good option to add to your arsenal to help give you something that works later on the lanes and also works down into lighter oil conditions.

Question:
How does Hammer raw pearl compare to Hammer vibe
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
They are going to be very similar as both were mid performance options for medium to lighter oil conditions and they had similar strength in coverstock and weight blocks. To give you an example the FCC rating on the old Hammer Onyx Vibe was 19.75 while the FCC rating on this Raw is 20.75.

Question:
How is the Hammer Raw blue/silver/white motion different than the Hammer Purple Pearl urethene?
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
The Raw has a pear reactive coverstock with a polished finish out of the box and this will read much later on the lane and have a much stronger reaction on the backend. The Purple Pearl urethane will read earlier than the raw but the urethane coverstock will not be as aggressive so the hook potential is much weaker and smoother overall.

Question:
How does this compare to the Hammer Turbo Diesel
Have an answer to this question?
Answer:
This ball is designed to go a little longer and have slightly less hook potential than what the Turbo Diesel had out of the box. However, if you have used the Turbo Diesel several years then it likely has lost some of its hook potential over the years and the Raw series would be the closest option to this in the current line up.
